Recognize Your Migraine Triggers

Certain things can trigger a Migraine in some people. Triggers are different for each individual, but some common triggers include:

  • Food and drink–chocolate, aged cheese, alcohol, and any food that contains certain artificial sweeteners or MSG (monosodium glutamate)
  • Menstruation–changes in hormones during a woman's period
  • Stress–during or after a stressful event
  • Fatigue–being worn out from too much activity, lack of sleep, or even
    too much sleep
  • Caffeine withdrawal–cutting way back on caffeine or suddenly having
    no caffeine at all
  • Weather–drastic changes in atmospheric pressure, and weather
  • Environment–exposure to second-hand smoke, perfume, or fresh paint
